Sunday 7th February
Old Testament Women of Faith
The characters in today’s story trusted God when they had to make big decisions in their lives, whether they had suffered much or were in a position to be generous to those less fortunate than them.
Do we trust God this much?
To do as he asks even when we suffer, or have to face the unknown? Do we trust God enough to share what we have with others who are in need?
We can – because we are all part of God’s family and he will never let us down.
Bible Verses to remember
Ruth 1: 16
Ruth answered, “Don't ask me to leave you! Let me go with you. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.”
Prayer
Father God,
we thank you for the examples of trusting God that Naomi and Ruth give us.
Help us to trust you even when times are tough, just as they did. But also let us learn from the kindness and generosity of Boaz, so that we help others when we are able to.
Help us to know that this is all part of being in your family – trusting you to guide us in good and bad times, and relying on you and those who believe in you to support us on our journey with you.
Amen
