SMALL GROUPS FOR DISCIPLESHIP AND FRIENDSHIP

SMALL GROUPS

Coming to church once on Sunday isn't enough if we are to become serious followers of Jesus. Over the centuries disciples have known that we grow in our faith with others, sitting over meals, studying the Bible together, praying together and sharing life together. Here are some ways you can do that with us.

Friday Morning Bible Study

This small group meets once a month in someone's home.  After a coffee, tea, cake and conversation we read and discuss a bible passage and come away encouraged in our faith.

See our Future Events page for details about when and where we get together here...

Bible Book Club

This group meets at different times of the year on Wednesday evening. We take one book of the Bible in an evening and read selected passages so we can understand what the writer wanted to say. Supper is served first and the whole evening deepens our friendship and shared journey with God.

See our Future Events page for details about when and where we get together here...

Prayer Groups

We have regular fixed points for prayer during a week and other special prayer events, as well as prayer in small groups. For more about Prayer see here ... and see our Future Events page for details about when and where we we get together for prayer here...

Local Small Groups

We have other local community groups that meet in homes, local venues and churches during the week. These groups meet for many different purposes and are announced as and when they take place in our local churches.

MORNING PRAYER ON TUESDAYS

VOLUNTEER

One of the best ways to engage with the church family is through volunteering.  Everybody has different talents and interests and there will be a role somewhere that you would enjoy doing for the common good.

You might like to join one of the teams providing welcome, hospitality and care in the churches.  Perhaps you can help with technology in the music and PA team, or with communications and social media, or perhaps doing practical things to help look after the church buildings or grounds.

Welcome team

This team makes sure that everyone is greeted and made to feel welcome and looked after on arrival in church.

Care Team

We don’t want anyone to get overlooked, whether they’re sitting in the congregation or unable to make it to church.  The members of the Care Team support others by talking and listening, being a bit of company or offering prayer.

Hospitality teams

These teams take it in turns to make tea, coffee and cold drinks after services and other meetings, provide lunches and teas on special occasions .

Music and PA system

Help with playing music, singing, projecting liturgy and song words during services, operating sounds desk.

Communications

Manage our communications within and outside church through Website, noticeboards, banners, flyers, answering enquiries, taking and distributing minutes,

Treasury

It takes a team of people to count collection and other donated money, to keep the books and accounts for the parish churches.

Garden and Grounds

Support the Wardens in looking after the church grounds.  Leaves or snow to be swept, litter to be picked up, plants to be cared for.

Local and Parish Church Council

The LCC meets    times a year and the PCC meets 4 times.  The councils agree on practical and ministry decisions.  We need diverse and representative points of view, and a willingness to commit time and thought to help run the church.
